Choir Competition '07

My 2nd year in 1st college and also my 2nd time to join choir, training wasn't really hard and not really that stress compare to last year, and I guess thats why we didn't manage to get 1st or 2nd but 3rd. Yet, its still a relieve to maintain in the top 3's. Though a lot of us, especially the seniors was having high expectations which turns into dissapointments,sigh.


The choir competition requirement was a patriotic song and any other song which would total up to 2 songs. This year the choir chose two songs, "I Wanna' Be Like You" and "Dirgahayu Oh' Tanah Airku". The former one we use to call it the monkey song, cause the monkey wants to be like human, really fun song, sadly we can't perform to its full potential. The latter is a very sweet song, which our choir leader Li En describe it as a love song to our country, really sweet song.


On 7th January, Sunday, the day of the competition, we went for rehearsal in the morning for mic adjustments and standing positions. Came back later have lunch, then prepare ourselves for makeup by late evening.

After some warm up in the hostel, and run through the competition songs, we then head our way to Dewan Tun Canselor (DTC). I was able to catch up with Winnie, a great pianist from 2nd college.

Being the 5th to perform out of 10 choir teams, it wasn't long tat we get on stage and start singing. Being on stage was like just a blink of eye, it ended so fast before i could know we actually finished singing both songs.

After the announcement of results, eventually we're disappointed, as we lay so high our expectations. Felt sad too, but can't blame anything. After that we went for supper in 6th college.
