Sofuto kurabu, with cheese on top of Riceballs
Sumhow i went to watch Hybrid band perform, cz Seikan was sessionin for Zeolite. Reached ther around 1.30pm, drop the cymbals and proceed to lunch with Hybrid member and frens. VeliRichDavid suggested on SakaeSushi in Sunway Pyramid. Jason, his bro and his frens was seen in ultimate shock wen they start going thru the menu.
Jason and his bro, Curly hair brothers
After the rather pricey lunch, we rush back to SunwayUni since Hybrid is doing the opening for the band slot which was suppose to kick off by 3pm. As u know, malaysian timing, add additional half and hour.
Hybrid members (L-R) XiangC, David, Gary, CY, Sim, Akira
Hybrid evntuali grab thecrowd's heart, and pouring out famous songs from animes such as InitialD, Digimon, Kenshin and DragonBall. The crowd loves it and carried out a sing-along session. Great song choices, nice work.
Hybrid Bassist, ChoongHow a.k.a. Sim
Sim's tone caught my attention, it sound very solid and growli. must b the maple fingerboard!! man!! his setup for the jrock tunes are basicli FenderJazzDeluxeV > BossBassEQ > HartkeBassAttack > Hartke HA3500 > HartkeCab410XL. his tone was cutting, edgey, growli, nice :)
(L-R) XiangC, VeliRichDavid, Gary
Gary sang pretty well, compare to the last time while i eventuali played with hybrid, as Sim was abroad. 1 year ago, he was struggling to sing on stage. Now, he is more than just ready to rock. He is in Perfect shape to hit hard.
Again, XiangC (kb) and Sim (bass)
The crappy thing was that the electricity wasnt stable, it went off a few times duting Hybrids slot. It definiteli brought stress and pressure to the band. XiangC wud of cz be the most stress guy. Since he is using 2 keyboards as midi controller running the synth from the Hp laptop of VeliRichDavid. Every time the current went off, and back on, he has to reset the synth. Stress!!!
Yuki and Me, before she hit the stage
Overall, hybrid did very well, there's crowd interaction, from Akira. Akira was very high during his solos, he practicali went to the edge of the stage and start shredding!!! VeliRichDavid's volume was abit on the lowside towrds the end of their slot. Well overall, gudjob guys :)
Jay, swalloning Japanese sword!!
You know japanese festivals, they come with cosplay, big swords. Jay was tryin to have fun wt the sword until Reiki grabed it and....
Jay shout out painfuli, "Ah!!"
2nd band was FlickedMind, they did their ori's and brought cover songs such as the LEGENDARY Doraemon's theme song, "Ang~ ang~ ang~" RajaFaroque shred-off sum beuatiful and expressive solo lines, long live the King
FlickedMind frontline (L-R)RajaFaroque, Yuki, Choy
3rd band was Zound, Akira and William on guitars, Ejun on bass, and cant rmb their name yt. Stil very fresh, wasnt very tight. The cover sum jrock metal covers.
Zound head banging!!
My ear couldnt reli stand the shattering Zound waves, so i went out to catch sum fresh air. Chat with GreenChoy about bass gadgets again. Well, im abit lazy with pedals now, so my aim for nw, is the Aguilar on-board Preamp OBP3. with the onboard preamp, hopefuli with more tone controls without my pedals and no need to walk to the amp wen im on the fly.
Snapshots (front) Seikan, Sim, William's GF
the Last band doing the closing was Zeolite, Seikan is sessioning for them. They gt a new vocalist which looks cute enuf to spread charm and attract fans. She do sing like Haoto, in a way that they can both sing off pitch during the song.
Brothers, Sim and me
Zeolite cover GlamorousSky by AnnaTsuchiya, Life and RollingStar by Yui, YuraYura, SakuraKiss. They did a great job attracting the crowd, very gud crowd response too. with 2 gitarist, Nicole and Jay, plus a keyboardist, the sounded reli full.
Seikan, the charity sessionist
Jason remarkabli impressed me, 2months ago wen he came to fokyo studio for jamming, he sounded reli just like a fresh guy to me, no idea with tone, trying to use a pick for the jrock tone. On the very day, he turn over my impression on him, he was jus suddenli very gud!! As a performer, he showed great showmanship and potrayed a very energetic, always reli to giv u the low end punch punk bassist. He also used alot of slidings, which is an essential essence of Jrock bass playing style. I do wonder if ChitWei pass on those licks to him :P
Cool bassist Jason with his YamahaBB
It was like a never ending torture hell on the wayc back, sending Smelly-After-Show Seikan through the long Sunway traffic jam nearli suffocate me.
