Wedding 313

Car deco for SoonMun and Patrick

A month ago, i promise to help haoto for her gig in penag 13mac. Den we started jamming, for the 1st time, and i dont reli feel like doin it, to be honest. Den, during CNY, soonmun told me bout her marriage with patrick. since its a once in life time thing, i ffk haoto and promise to take photo for soonmun's little wedding day.

Jus arrive at 中华大会堂

On the very morning i went out with tianhao, wenhao, yihao and qijian to broga hills. start climbing at around 5.45am and reach the top in 1 hour plus. tianhao read the weather report that the sun wil show up at 7.20am and he was right. dint had breakfast, so i was in bad shape tat morning, it was abit hard for me to keep up on wenhao's pace.

cant wait to sign the papers.

the wind was strong in the early morning. I made it to the top finali, as we wait for the sun rise, more people showed up cz its skul holiday. Sun was hiding behind thick clouds as the daylight breaks. Went to kajang for breakfast and head back for soonmun's big day.

The officer checkin the signed papers

reach 中华大会堂 bout 11.30am, and they arrive about 11.45am. it was my 1st attempt in using D70s for a specific function. Since i was familiar with my 5yr old panasonic fz5 f2.8 with IS lens, I was pretty confident i cud make a clear shot at 1/10s. however since the lens is of f3.5-4.5 i had to boost the ISO up to get to 1/10 -1/20s. I was pretty confident to use the daylight WB which makes it all time 5000k color temperature. After a few shots under daylight waiting for every1 to come, I continue shooting indoors with the same settings. Dint realise tat i made a terrible mistake.....

happy couples with their wedding ring

After bringin back all the photos and view it from the com monitor, den i realise a terrible color cast plague all the indoor photos due to the mis use of White Balance. and the slow shutter speed of 1/10 brought terrible handshakes to half of the photos rendering them unusable. the ISO abuse scared most photos with terrible noise in the dark areas. many photos were underexpose. since the build in flash was too harsh, i lock the flash down for the whole event. the absense of flash cause many potrait photos to end up with underexpose face with a well lit background. IT WAS A TOTAL DISASTER!!!

SoonMun, Patrick and family

Well lucky i had the indoor pictures shot in RAW/NEF, and was able to salvage some of it and readjust the WB, turn down the contrast and salvage some face details, kicked in sum noise reduction using Nikon's Capture NX. It was a lesson to learn, to shoot in RAW at anytime i could afford to. I was so use to shooting with my old cam which gives a preview shot after a half press shutter, den i wud apply exposure compensations before the actual shot. Shooting thru an SLR was diff.

Cute cute cute!!!!

U look tru the optical view finder and wish tat u chose the right metering mode (multizone, partial, centerweight, spot) and tat the exposure meter calculated the amount of exposure u intended to, and oways take a peak at the histogram during the preview and make necesary adjustments. And a brigther lense is very important too. Sumtin like a 50mm f1.8 wud have been nice. Gotta learn hw to use flash too. Im totali addicted to it now.

Just married, husband and wife
